Directed Drawings

Today we worked on a fun little Thanksgiving activity called a Directed Drawing. The students listened to directions and drew as the directions were read. Since this was the first time we've done this type of activity I drew examples.  They are adorable and very unique!  Here are just a few and I'll be back later to add more!

Happy Halloween!

We measured spooky candy corns.

We enjoyed lunch in the room with some delicious snacks.

The class vs. teacher.  The class won!  Fun game!

They shared their descriptive paragraphs for their hats and they took turns guessing.

Gallery Walk

Back in early September we took a Gallery Walk. We answered questions using our class number on colored dots.  This was a fun way to learn a little bit about each other.  Mr. Nielsen even participated!

What a great tool to learn about the class. We noticed that one student likes to work in groups. A handful of students like to work with a partner. The majority of the class prefers to work alone. Recess is the favorite reward.

The Morgan Grange Donated Dictionaries

On Friday, the third graders received nice dictionaries from the Morgan Grange.  Mr. & Mrs. Hiltner and Mr. Hartley presented each student with a dictionary.

We practiced shaking hands.

They wanted a silly picture.

We really appreciate our dictionaries!

The October book orders are due by October 15th.  Students received a free book coupon to use if they spend $10.  Please check the expiration date as it may be good until the end of November.

Week of October 6th

The Morgan Grange will be presenting the third graders with dictionaries on Friday at 10:15.  Thank you Morgan Grange!

We've Been Busy!

We've been working on main idea and we read a selection about the Bearded Dragon.  One of our students has one, so he shared photos with us!

Last week we reviewed plants before our test on Friday.  We watched a short review video each day and took notes. Students could write, or draw pictures with labels.  They are displayed in the hallway.

We completed our first narratives last week.  This week we'll share them with the class and display them in the hallway. It's fun to read about their experiences!

We are working on reviewing expectations for math stations.  They've done a great job!  This was a  math fact sorting activity.

We also sorted science words and put them into categories and ABC order.

This student is working on ABC order.

We've learned a lot!  This week we are getting reading for the OAA on Tuesday!
