Story Problems and Candy

This week we'll be working on some personalized story problems scavenger hunt style.  The problems were written with students' interests in mind.  It'll be a nice change of pace this week.

What is a scavenger hunt?  

Cards are placed around the room and students walk from problem to problem.  They love to get out of their seats. They stay on task throughout the activity.  It's fun! 

They'll be working on which operation to use to solve a problem and then they'll write a number sentence to solve it.

The extra math on the back of the homework page is important preparation for the math achievement tests.  Please go over the problems with your son/daughter so that they can get extra help in understanding the problem.  

Tomorrow in science we'll be working on Candy Labs.  We'll complete 3 experiments involving candy.  It should be fun!
